SUBJECT:     An Ordinance Pertaining to Automated Enforcement of Certain Traffic Violations (Red Light Enforcement through Photographic Systems)

PURPOSE:

Approval by the City Commission of First Reading of an Ordinance enacting Hallandale Beach Code of Ordinance Section 28-226 through 28-230 for Traffic Enforcement Photographic Systems.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

On August 28, 2007 the City Commission approved implementation of a Red Light Camera Enforcement Program to increase community safety. The proposed ordinance specifically addresses the actions which constitute a violation of the ordinance. The ordinance provides for penalties for violating the ordinance and remedies for resolving ordinance violations. An Administrative Policy approved by the City Manager will be prepared which further describes and governs the program.

RECOMMENDATION:

The City Commission adopt the Ordinance on First Reading and set Second Reading for June 18, 2008 at 7:30 P.M.
