SUBJECT:     Discussion of the Use of the Beach Club Sales Center as a City Facility.  CR#024/07

PURPOSE:

To provide the status of the Beach Club Sales Center and discuss its possible uses as a City facility. 

DISCUSSION:

On August 9, 2007, the City took final possession of the municipal building known as the Beach Club Sales Center.  The Building is comprised of two floors and a roof top terrace, approximately 3500 square feet per floor, totaling 10,500 square feet (including the roof top).   There is currently only one set of handicap bathrooms located on the first floor. 

The building will require certain modifications which I have currently budgeted at approximately $100,000.  Some of the necessary repairs include patching and sealing of the existing walls, replacing the floors, and adding plumbing and water to the second floor.  The City will tentatively be utilizing the new building for rentals and other activities until the building has been renovated.  During the renovations, the second floor, which requires the majority of the renovations, will not be available for rentals or accessible to the public. 

Recommendation:

The City Commission discuss the possible uses of the building.
