SUBJECT:     Consideration of Designating a Voting Delegate and Alternate for the Florida League of Cities Annual Business Meeting

Purpose:

To designate a Voting Delegate and Alternate for the Florida League of Cities Annual Business Meeting to enable the City to be eligible to cast a vote on proposed policy development, election of League leadership and adoption of resolutions. 

Discussion:

The Florida League of Cities Annual Business Meeting will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Florida League of Cities Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.  As Hallandale Beach is a member city, an elected official is entitled to vote at the Business Meeting provided the City’s voting delegate and alternate have received voting credentials before the meeting.  A completed Credentials Form is to be submitted to the Florida League of Cities by August 05, 2007.  Even though the City Commission has already appointed a Director and two alternates to the Florida League of Cities, the League is requesting the City Commission designate a Voting Delegate specifically for its Annual Business Meeting.

As the City Commission has previously appointed Mayor Cooper as the Director and Commissioner Ross as the 1^st Alternate for the Florida League of Cities, it is appropriate for the Mayor and Commissioner Ross to be the voting delegate and alternate for the Annual Business Meeting.

Recommendation:

The City Commission designate a Voting Delegate and an Alternate for the Florida League of Cities Annual Business Meeting.
