SUBJECT: AGENDA ITEM: RATIFICATION OF CONTRACT BETWEEN THE

                        CITY OF HALLANDALE BEACH AND A.F.S.C.M.E. LOCAL #2009

PURPOSE:

To approve a Resolution to ratify an agreement between the City of Hallandale Beach and American Federation of Municipal Employees (A.F.S.C.M.E.) Local #2009.

BACKGROUND:

Pursuant to the last negotiation session held on Monday, May 14, 2007, an agreement has been reached between the City of Hallandale Beach and the State, County and A.F.S.C.M.E. Local #2009. The agreement is effective October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2008.  The attached Resolution calls for the ratification of this collective bargaining agreement.

DISCUSSION

The Resolution, if approved, will ratify the agreement between the A.F.S.C.M.E. Local #2009 and the City of Hallandale Beach retroactive to the beginning date of the contract, October 1, 2005.  The General Employees membership ratified the contract on Friday, June 8^th, 2007 with a vote of 113 to 5 to accept the contract.

RECOMMENDATION:

The City Commission approve the Resolution and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement between the City of Hallandale Beach and the A.F.S.C.M.E. Union.
