SUBJECT: Ordinance Amendments – Boards and Committees – Second Reading

PURPOSE:

The City Commission approve on Second Reading an Ordinance amending Sections 2-74, Election of Officers, and 2-75, Excessive Absences of Board Members.

BACKGROUND:

At the June 6, 2007 Commission meeting, the Commission approved on First Reading the Ordinance amending Sections 2-74 and 2-75 of the Code pertaining to Elections of Officers and Attendance of Board Members and Alternate Board Members. 

DISCUSSION

Line 33 of the Ordinance was changed to stipulate that the ballot may be open or closed for the election of a chairman and vice-chairman.  This will provide needed flexibility based on the voting preference of the members of the Boards and Committees.

RECOMMENDATION:

The City Commission approve the Ordinance on Second Reading and authorize the appropriate officials to execute the Ordinance on behalf of the City.
