CITY OF HALLANDALE BEACH, FLORIDA
MEMORANDUM
CM07-186
DATE: April 16, 2007
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: D. Mike Good, City Manager
SUBJECT: Summer 2007 - City Commission Schedule
______________________________________________________________________
PURPOSE
To establish a Summer Schedule for the City Commission Meetings including adoption of a tentative millage rate in accordance with the Truth in Millage (TRIM) legislation.
BACKGROUND
Each year the City Commission considers scheduling a summer vacation whereby certain regular meetings are cancelled or rescheduled. Along with the review of the summer regular meeting schedule, the Commission also schedules the meeting date for the tentative Budget Hearing, in accordance with the Truth In Millage (TRIM) legislation, and Budget Workshops. As outlined below, the following options are available concerning the scheduling of the tentative Budget Hearing and summer meeting schedule.
DISCUSSION
Broward County must receive the City of Hallandale Beach’s adopted tentative millage rate by the end of business on August 3, 2007.
CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
In addition to scheduling a vacation, the Commission typically sets dates for Budget Workshop Meetings at this time. Staff recommends the regular City Commission meeting be conducted on August 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in order to adopt the tentative millage rates prior to the August 3, 2007 deadline.
The schedule should be adopted by the Commission by motion. Alternate dates are also available at the discretion of the Commission.
