SUBJECT: Discussion of Changing Scheduled Times for City Commission Meetings

Presently, the City Commission meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month commencing at 10:00 A.M. and the third Wednesday of the month commencing at 1:30 P.M., with Public Hearings at 6:00 P.M.   Currently, seventeen (17) out of thirty-one (31) cities in Broward County begin their City Commission meetings at 7:00 P.M. (Please see attached table).  Additionally, in Broward County only seven (7) out of fifty-nine (59) scheduled commission meetings occur before 6:00 P.M. 

The current scheduled times eliminate many of the working public from the ability to fully participate in the meetings.  Night meetings will allow citizens who work during the day and have items of interest on the agenda to participate without missing work.  The City Commission works for the public and the meeting times should be convenient for the public.
